Global Custom Ceramic Product Manufacturing
Creating a custom ceramic product using the slip casting method is a precise and multi-step process that combines artistry, engineering, and traditional craftsmanship. This technique is ideal for producing consistent, hollow ceramic forms—perfect for tableware, lighting fixtures, or decorative objects. Here’s a breakdown of the entire process, from the first sculpt to the final product. Our process allows for :
- Small to Large quantities of items
- Consistent and high quality output
- Usage of different clay based on requirement
- Different colors, patterns and textures
- Consistent packaging to be used for final product
- Precision sized items that have plastic or metal fittings.
Below is the step by step process of production from start to finish.

Sculpting the Original Model
The journey begins with the sculpting of the original model, also known as the pattern. This model defines the final form and details of the custom ceramic product. Artists often use clay, plasticine, or digital 3D prints to create this prototype. Accuracy is essential—every feature and surface texture will be replicated in the final item.

Creating the Master Mould
Once the model is approved, it’s used to create a master mould. This is typically made of plaster and is used to reproduce the shape exactly. If the design is complex, the master mould may be made in multiple parts to accommodate undercuts or intricate features. The master mould must dry thoroughly before proceeding.

Producing the Case Mould
The case mould is a durable version of the master, often made from reinforced plaster or resin. It acts as the template for producing multiple production moulds. For large-scale or batch production, a case mould ensures consistency and speeds up the mould-making workflow. At this stage, alignment keys and parting lines are refined for easy assembly during production.

Making the Production Mould
Using the case mould, artisans then produce production moulds—the actual moulds used for slip casting. These are made from high-quality plaster that can absorb water from the slip effectively. Depending on the shape of the object, the production mould may have two or more interlocking parts. Once poured and set, the mould is carefully opened and dried completely before use.

Slip Casting and Finishing the Product
The next stage is slip casting. Liquid clay (slip) is poured into the production mould. The porous plaster walls draw moisture from the slip, forming a solid layer inside the mould. After a controlled amount of time, the excess slip is drained, and the cast is left to stiffen.
Once the clay reaches a leather-hard stage, the mould is opened, and the piece is carefully removed. The seam lines are trimmed and refined by hand. The piece is left to dry before it undergoes a bisque firing. Afterward, it can be glazed, decorated, and fired again to vitrify the clay—resulting in a durable, finished custom ceramic product.

Many finishes and options
Once item is slip casted, we can work on the final surface treatment ; colored glazes, textures, food safe glazes, or stains.
We also customize colors and provide consultancy on suitable materials to ensure you get a product that fits your requirements both technical and aesthethics.

Engraving and Detail
Be it your brand logo or specific details, our team can engrave, sculpt or design a solution that fits your branding requirements. We can also provide packaging and printing services so your items are prepared ready to sell/use the moment they arrive.
The slip casting manufacturing technique we use allows for the production of highly detailed and reproducible ceramic pieces—perfect for custom products where precision and uniformity matter. While the process is labor-intensive, it offers unmatched versatility in shape and design, making it a preferred method for designers and ceramic artists around the world. From a hand-sculpted idea to a fully glazed product, each step contributes to transforming clay into timeless ceramic artistry.
