Family is one of Adil Ghani's Life : Magnified sculptures, a series of raku-fired ceramic earthenware works that capture facets of humanity within shapes inspired by microlife. Its long, low proportions make it a commanding piece for a sideboard or plinth, and a considered fine-art choice for Malaysian gifts and corporate gifts.
About the collection
Adil was inspired by what the naked eye cannot see: worlds within worlds, reactions and movements happening without our awareness. The series asks what these microscopic details would look like at life size, and how such seemingly insignificant elements align with different facets of our lives. Alien yet familiar, if we paused a moment to look, what might we see?
Fired in raku
Taken from the kiln red-hot and sealed in a reduction chamber of sawdust or paper, the sculpture's surface was set by a reaction that cannot be repeated.
